At university everything revolves about studying and preparing students for their future careers, but one thing that is still missing is a focus on international students and their employability in the Dutch labour market.

UReka aims to provide opportunities for all students to be able to work in the Netherlands after graduating.International students should be enabled to integrate themselves in the Dutch society after finishing their academic career and not being restricted by language and cultural barriers.

Hi there! My name is Kevin Witlox. I’m a first year master student in Cyber Security and last year I represented you in the University Council. I ran for council because UT should have space for everyone to develop themselves here on our campus, even while our University is changing and growing. Many important topics were discussed, ranging from the impact of the pandemic on our way of working to the real estate plans of the UT. As UReka, we do not only react to the Executive Board, but instead proactively address the topics important to students. It is this attitude that brought topics such as co-optation and language requirements on the agenda of the UT community. It’s incredibly important that the students in the council are involved and represent you, so be sure to vote again this election!

My name is Margo Dietrich. I am a second year student in the University College, studying Technology, Liberal Arts and Science. After spending the last year in the University Council as the external chair of the Strategy and Internationalisation Committee, I learned how to take into account multiple, and sometimes conflicting, perspectives when looking for solutions. I support UReka’s emphasis on representing all student perspectives regardless of background and I appreciate the opportunity to be a representative on UReka’s list one last time.

Hey I’m Gerard and I’m a third years Chemical Science & Engineering. You could already know me from C.T.S.G. Alembic where I am currently busy with a boardyear as Chairman of the association. During my boardyear, I have learned a lot on the ins and outs of the University. One of the most admirable thing I have seen in my years here at the University is what a small group of student already can achieve. With Ureka, we can give every student a voice and make even a larger impact.

Hey! I’m Rufaro a first-year psychology student. I was born and grew up in Harare, Zimbabwe. Upon my arrival in Enschede I became involved in many aspects of student life, by firstly joining my study association Dimensie and becoming a member of the Duitenburg Study Investment club. I am also in the honors program processes of change and I am currently a member of Ockham as well. My topics of interest are Digitalization and Internationalization. Joining the university council is an opportunity to raise awareness on the opinions of the students and I strongly believe that in the event that I am selected I will promote innovation, imagination and inclusivity.

Hey hello! My name is Roos and I am an third year BMT student. In my time in Enschede I have been busy working on different educational committees within my program, here is where I learned that I not only like the technical aspects of studying BMT but also everything around it. I think the quality of education should be an top priority for the UT as it effect everything from well being to the ability for students to become active apart from their studies! This is something I would like to focus on within the council to improve the lives of UT students as a whole.

Hey! I am Taha. Currently studying first year bachelors of mechanical engineering. As a Pakistani who spent his teenage in Oman and being introduced to diversity in early age and having friends from different parts of the world, I understand what its like to be in a new environment and settle in. My motivation to join the University Council is to improve the student well being through focusing on comunication and internationalization at UT and be the voice of all students in the council.

Hello! My name is Imke. I am an fourth year Applied Physics student, and currently a member of the OS-board. Last year as Chairman of Study Association Arago, I got in contact with all different parties within our University and learned a lot in how these parties are communicating. I believe that a lot of improvement can be made, especially in communicating to individual students and board members. As OS-board member, the first steps have been made, but now as member of UReka, I want to continue to increase the quality of the communication for you, students at our beautiful university. Besides all that, I like to play the saxophone and go out roller skating

Hey guys, I’m Christine! I am a second-year Psychology student from Ireland and I grew up in Germany. Ever since I started studying here at the UT in 2019 I become involved in many different aspects of student life. Currently I am the chairwoman of my study association Dimensie. Especially during this past year I have gotten to know the ins and outs of our university and how it all comes to together to create the University of Twente that we have all come to know in our time here. Making students opinions be heard and understood by the one’s creating policies and regulations is something I have come to value immensely in my time at the UT. This is exactly what I plan to do in the University Council with UReka. I am eager to see how we can shape our University in regards to student well-being, education, inclusion, and many more topics.

Hi everyone, I’m Jeroen. I am a third year Industrial Engineering and Management student. If you know me, it is most probably via Study Association Stress, where I am currently doing a board year. My hobbies are playing soccer and watching formula 1. As chairman of the study association, I have seen and spoken with a wide variety of bodies within the UT. But most importantly, I have spoken a lot with you, our students. With this knowledge and my passion for long term and durable solutions, I want to help our university to get ready for the future.
