Hi, my name is Jouke and I am a fourth years Mechanical Engineering student, currently finishing my Bachelor. Last year I was board member at the study association of Mechanical Engineering, W.S.G. Isaac Newton, where is was Vice chairman. I am also currently part of the Faculty Council of ET as a student member. Additionally, I have been active as a committee member of D.S.V. Skeuvel. This has allowed me to see many sides of the UT, both the positives and negatives. I hope to make the positives even greater and try to iron out the negatives as part of UReka!

Hi, my name is Bart. I am the current chair of the Faculty Council of EEMCS. I am currently in the first year of the master Electrical Engineering. Before that I was a board member of E.T.S.V. Scintilla, the study association of Electrical Engineering. I have learned a lot as a board member and chair of the Faculty Council seen a lot of good things at this university and also some things that are up for improvement. Next year, I hope to work together with other students to shape an even better UT.

Hey, I am Tijani and I am a third-year Psychology student. Most of you know me as TJ and have seen me on Campus wearing green colours, representing my study association S.V. Dimensie as the Chairman of the current Board. In my free time, I enjoy playing volleyball at v.v. Harambee or going on a run. During my board year, I had my first contact with policies at the University of Twente and quickly realised my interest in these. It gave me a general understanding of how the UT operates and I realised that some voices might not be heard. That is why I joined UReka. With new challenges coming up, see the discussion about internationalisation, I want to ensure that all of our voices are heard and that we can be part of the future shaping of the UT, together!

Hey there! I’m Joschka Beck, a third-year Advanced Technology student. However, in the past academic year, I took on a board position at the study association Astatine. If we’ve met before, you might remember seeing me involved with the Triple A associations. My board year presented me with a range of challenges and opportunities related to student activism within associations, and it has become my main focus this year. As the Commissioner of Internationalization at my study, I’m particularly dedicated to improving this aspect and believe there is always room for growth.

Wow… 3 years are already over… Oh hi! I am Liran, soon will finish my Computer Science study here at UT. I dedicated most of my spare time on creating platforms for students to feel at home. My friends and I built a platform to find relevant events in Enschede – a mobile app called Clik. My friends and I initiated the Calisthenics association on campus, CalZquad, with the mission in mind of making a multi-cultural experience. Now, my friends and I will have the option of promoting values we believe are important for students in UT – supporting students in experiencing a sense of belonging and enjoying the vast diversity that the UT has to offer! Therefore, I joined UReka. As the (probably) last dance for me at UT.

Hi, I’m Wouter! I’m a third-year Communication Science student, but you might recognize me as board of Apollo, the cultural umbrella of the UT, or one of my previous boards at Study Association Communiqué and Theatre Association NEST. During my board years I’ve learned a lot about how the UT operates, and would like to do my part in improving some things. As a Communication Science student I know about the importance of transparent communication, so all students will feel involved in what’s up at the UT. I’m also involved in several cultural associations (Musilon, Break-Even, NEST) and want to highlight the importance of (performing) arts for students. Next to that, I’m also a member of Exaltio, the Queer Association, and want to make sure that LGBTQ+ voices are heard in conversations about inclusion and diversity. Together with the rest of UReka, I aim to amplify the voices of students from all different sides of the UT, ensuring that their concerns and aspirations are heard.

Hello everybody! I am Marta, a second-year Creative Technology student from Italy. This is my first experience ever to run for student council. However, I am resolute, proactive, and able to suggest new solutions to longstanding problems. I am personally and directly involved in the well-being of our student community since I am planning to pursue a master’s degree at UT, and thus stay here for several more years.

Hey, I’m Lars, a third-year Civil Engineering student. Currently I’m doing a board year for study association ConcepT, which is where I discovered my interest in policy concerning the University. There is a lot of talk about the future of the UT, and I think it is important that students are involved in these discussions. In Twente, we have a beautiful campus with a lot of space and freedom, and besides that, there is an open, welcoming and personal atmosphere with approachable staff members. These are main reasons I enjoy studying here, and we should build on these strengths, and benefit where possible.

Hey there! My name is Lydia Mak and I am a third-year Industrial Engineering and Management BSc student. I have been active at Study Association Stress since my first year, where I am currently doing a board year as Commissioner of Educational Affairs. In my free time, I like to play football, go windsurfing or try out other sports. In my board year, I represented student opinions to the programme management and other staff members. Hello, I am Ethan and I am a student at the Universtiy College Twente also know as ATLAS. I am in my second year. As of now, I am a board member of a National student association and the chair of SUSTAIN. Next to that I am part of several committees, I am doing the Honours Programme (E&BD) and I am a Confidential Contact Person. At my leisure, I like to go for a walk, play the piano, game and join choir rehearsals. In the past two year, I have come to enjoy inquiring about peoples needs and opinions, so I can make the right decision and take action. By joining the Univerty Council, I want to continue this process of incorperating your voice into our decisions.
