From the cleanroom to the council room: For a university as rigorous about student rights as it is about research
Faculty: S&T
Study: Chemical Science and Engineering & Nanotechnology
Hi! I’m Duru, a first-year master’s student doing a 2-master’s programme in Materials Science & Engineering and Nanotechnology. As much as I loved spending my time in labs both in my bachelor’s and master’s here, my time at the UT has never been confined to the lab: During my bachelor’s, I was the chair of Break-Even, the hip hop and breakdance association, and I also did a board year as the secretary of Apollo, the cultural umbrella. I think that the real lifelong personal growth as a student happens with an active student life, which is only possible with a university that actually invests in this goal through spaces, associations, and the amazing students who go above and beyond. Especially as an international student, it is easy to feel like your voice gets lost in UT-wide decisions. But together, we can build the UT we actually want to study in, from the cleanroom to the council room!
