When we started joining the university council meetings in September, we did not only start giving input in discussion topics and bringing in our own initiatives. We also restarted our UReka association! After talking with a lot of former faction members and other active people we got some good ideas on how to bring new life into our association.
On the 7th of November we held our first GMA, in which all the faction members were approved as the new board of UReka. From this moment on we will have a GMA in every UC cycle (which consists of 6 weeks). During the GMA’s we discuss important topics that have come up in the UC meetings, talk about ideas for initiatives from the faction and members of the association, and set up different working groups who work on certain topics.
So far we have an active working group for housing for (international) students and a working group to set up a vision for UReka as a UC party and an association. We are also busy setting up a communication and campaign committee to keep in touch with all the students at the UT.
Next to the GMA’s we also organise drinks, or sometimes lunches, where we discuss different themes. So far we have had themed drinks where people could give input on what they wanted our association to look like and drinks about housing and finance at the UT. Our next themed meeting will be a lunch during the lunch break in the first lecture week of Januari (the specific date will be announced later). It will be about the language policy at the UT.
Sounds interesting? Feel free to come by one of our drinks or GMA’s to get to know more about UReka. If you’d like, you can also contact a faction member first via firstname.lastname@example.org.
